چکیده

Chromolaena odorata (C. odorata) (L.) R. King & H. Robinson is a perennial flowering shrub with diverse habitats, including crops, grasslands, and roadsides. This plant has been widely used in Vietnamese folk medicine for gastric ulcer treatment. Hence, the present study aimed to evaluate acute toxicity anti-ulcer effect of ethanol crude extract C. leaves its fractions against indomethacin-induced model mice, investigate chemical constituents most active fraction. According vivo results, ethyl acetate residue highest activity significantly reduced lesions theexperimental mice an index 0.73 ± 0.39 percentage inhibition 26.92%. Thus, this fraction was chosen further investigation. Four pure compounds (1-4) were extracted isolated by using chromatographic methods. Based on nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, melting temperature, mass spectrometry analysis, compared thepublished literature, their structures elucidated as 1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)propane- 1,2-diol (1), kaempferol-7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (2), naringenin-5,7-di-O-β-Dglucopyranoside (3), rubrosterone (4). To our best knowledge, all these first time from leaves. These findings contribute providing scientific evidence traditional use phytochemicals leaves.&nbsp

Hemostatic and Wound Healing Properties of Chromolaena odorata Leaf Extract

Chromolaena odorata (L.) King and Robinson (Siam weed) extract has been used to stop bleeding and in wound healing in many tropical countries. However, its detailed mechanisms have not been elucidated. In this study, we examined the molecular mechanisms by which Siam weed extract (SWE) affected hemostatic and wound healing activities. SWE promoted Balb/c 3T3 fibroblast cell migration and prolif...

Crocin exerts improving effects on indomethacin-induced small intestinal ulcer by antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic mechanisms

Crocin is a plant-derived carotenoid and bears potent antioxidant property. Ranitidine (a histamine H2 receptor blocker) is used for peptic ulcer treatment. The present study was planned to investigate the effects of crocin and ranitidine on indomethacin-induced ulcer in small intestine of rats. Animals were randomized into two major groups including indo-methacin (10.00 mg kg-1...
